Editorial policy
This policy explains how every article on Trend Unpacked is made. It applies to everything we publish.
Choosing stories
We pick one story a day from the topics people are searching for and discussing. We only cover a story when we can explain it accurately from reliable public sources.
Sourcing
- Every explainer cites three to five sources, from at least three different organisations. All sources are linked at the end of the article.
- We prefer primary sources: official statements, court documents, research papers, company announcements and data published by public bodies.
- When sources disagree, we say so and explain what each one reports.
Original writing
We write every article from scratch. We don't copy, translate or rephrase other outlets' articles, and we keep direct quotes short and attributed. We don't use photos from news agencies or other publications.
Neutrality
On political and social questions, we describe the positions of the people involved fairly, in their own terms, and we separate facts from opinions. We don't endorse candidates, parties or causes.
Topics we don't advise on
We report news about health, money and the law, but we never tell readers what to do about their own health, finances or legal situation. For personal decisions, please speak to a qualified professional.
Use of AI
We use AI tools to help research and draft explainers. A human editor checks every draft against its sources, edits it and approves it before it is published. Nothing is published automatically.
Corrections and updates
If we make a mistake, we correct it as soon as we confirm it and add a note to the article. When a story develops, we update the explainer and show the date of the latest update. To report an error, email hello@trendunpacked.com.
